I found this mine searching USGS Historic Topo maps near La Grange. The maps show two shafts only a few minutes north of La Grange. Mindat.org indicates a 30ft wide quarts vein running 350′ along the surface and underground works to 792 meters. It operated in 1901 and 1908.
I could see possible ruins and an un-gated road from Google Earth so we decided to check it out. We drove the circular road which crosses both overburden piles and right up to a fenced shaft. We threw rocks down the shaft and it sounded deep. The collar had collapsed around once was a locked and covered opening. The ‘ruins’ we saw on Google earth were a foundation and a headframe which had collapsed into a pile of timbers.
I could not find any more history on the mine. If you have any info please comment below.
