The owners have closed the mine tours. After a landslide at the mine they were no longer able to continue tours due to the insurance company. I believe they are still mining but without tourist. Be sure to visit their store, Matelot Gulch Mining Co.,which is still a great time for kids who get to pan for gold. A must do if you visit Columbia.
Hopefully Kelly Pedemonte will return our emails or contact us so we can do a feature on the mine and its history!

I know the location and it is not active. Area below mine is claimed by someone I know and has key to gate. I can take pictures next time and send them if you like.

Sorry it took so long to reply. We are going to start mining again once we get rain. If I spot claim owner, I’ll get pic. from below looking up hill. Other mines in our area too.
