Old Sacramento features scores of original period buildings from the Gold Rush, almost all of which have been transformed into restaurants and tourist shops.Train rides, steam boats and more make for an authentic 1800’s feel. The city was built right on the river and prone to flooding. Most of the city was filled in and the streets raised one story. There are many tunnels and passages below street level.
The Sacramento History Museum is located in Old Sac and visitors can learn about the city and its residents during the Gold Rush. Old Sac is also well know for it’s Gold Rush Days event.
