This 5 stamp mill sits in a small roadside park across the street from the “Native Sons of the Golden West” building in Auburn. The park also has an ore cart and old Herald sign from the Herald newspaper building that was tore down to make the off-ramp.

I have been to Auburn many times and never noticed it, its a bit hidden off the beaten path. We stopped to check it out and found out more info from a piece of paper screwed to the stamp mill.

It crushed ore from mines around Humbug Canyon…

Turns out the mill is from the Dorer Mine and donated by the Dorer family to the Native Sons of the Golden West. It crushed ore from mines around Humbug Canyon in the 1880s.
